THE PARLIAMENTARIAN
Installation

Your PARLIAMENTARIAN™ system was fully tested prior to shipment. However, we suggest you satisfy yourself that there has been no damage during shipment. It will take only five to ten minutes to lay all the components out on a table and connect them all together.

Every component is plugged into the modular jack manifold on the end of the Power Supply using the cables supplied. There is no particular order in which these connections are made. All plugs and jacks are four conductor.

Once connected, proceed as follows:

1.  Plug power supply into a 115 VAC outlet.

2.  Actuate the "ON-OFF" switch - all displays should be blank.  Should any other digits appear, there is probably a loose cable connection and you should check all the cable connections, starting with the first module not blank.

3.  Press each "REQUEST TO SPEAK" button one at a time starting with #1, #2 and so on.  As each button is pressed check to see if the control unit is receiving that signal.  The first three signals will light the digital displays and the appropriate LED's. Continue this sequence until all units have indicated a request to speak.  At this time, all LED's on the master control should be illuminated.

4.  Now check the queuing function.  Check each individual station beginning with #1 and continuing to the last.  If you actuated them in sequence, the number displayed the readout should be in sequence (1,2,3,4,5, etc.).   Next, begin to recognize speakers (ADVANCE switch on master control).  Each time the switch is pressed, the number one position should be removed, and the number two position should move up to the number one position.  This action is also reflected in the individual control displays.

5.  Next, check the "CANCEL" circuitry.  Press a few "REQUEST TO SPEAK" buttons, check to see that they have displayed correctly and then begin to cancel request to speak.  As you press the "CANCEL" button that station request should drop from the queue and subsequent requests parade up one position.

6.  You now know that the system functions properly.  Install it, and it should function.

Mount the Power Supply in the location you had designated on the Cable Length Diagram that you provided us.  All cables have been marked with their lengths for your convenience.  Plug the cables for the Request Modules into the Power Supply Manifold - any plug into any jack.  Route the cables to each request site and fix in place to the underside of the Dias where they will be out of harms way using the staples provided.  The small staple will accommodate 1 to 3 cables and the large staple will accommodate 4 to 7 cables.  The last few feet of each cable must find its way to the working surface of the Dais. Our suggestion for this is to drill a 5/8" hole in the Dais at arm’s length from the front edge. A black plastic ferrule has been provided to line and trim this hole. Pass the cable through the ferrule and attach the Request Module. When the Module is held about a foot in front of the voter’s face mark the cable where it passes through the ferrule. At a point about two inches past this mark attach a counter weight to the cable. Allow an equal amount of cable to hang free of the last point of attachment to the Dais. This will set up a retractable cable arrangement that keeps the cable from cluttering the desk surface.

Plug the cable into the end of a numbered Request module at each location keeping in mind the numeric seating position it will register on the Control module and the location at the Dias you have selected for it.
